St George AFL Club’s under-19s team are the 2014 Sydney premiers for their age competition.
The Saints defeated North Shore Bombers, 11.11 (77) to 4.6 (30) in the grand final on Saturday at Blacktown International Sportspark.
Tim Tegg from St George received the best player award.
Coach Derek Waters played 36 footballers under the St George development program which includes players from the St George and Sutherland AFL Academy for ages 16 and 17.
The academy is based at St George’s home ground: Olds Park, Penshurst.
St George club secretary Richard Orton said it was a wonderful achievement by the club.
He said the club’s youth policy and development of home grown talent was paying dividends.
Orton said full credit must go to the players, coaching staff and the hard work maintained in the academy program.
