THE Maroney family of Yarrawarrah are clearing out.
Not from Sutherland Shire, but as part of a major de-clutter that will raise money for breast cancer research.
The Maroneys have registered for the national Garage Sale Trail 2014, a day of simultaneous garage sales around Australia on Saturday, October 25.
The day aims to help reduce landfill needs and prevent illegal dumping.
Mother-of-five Justine Maroney, a teacher at St John Bosco College, Engadine, said her family was looking forward to taking part.
"We have run out of room because we have so much stuff," she said. "Either the stuff goes or the kids go.
"I can't keep both."
The family has been selecting items to sell.
"We have furniture, games and lots of lovely second-hand clothes," she said.
"The kids are very good with the idea of giving to those who have less than us.
"They know that it's not about the stuff we hang on to but the fact we have each other and that we can help others."
