SUTHERLAND Shire primary won major awards in this year's Wakakirri national festival.
Each year Wakakirri searches for the best stories created by Australian schools.
St Patrick's Sutherland, St John Bosco Engadine, St Joseph's Como and Yowie Bay, Gymea Bay, Engadine and Engadine West public schools were among those that competed in the annual event, which was held at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre on September 17-18.
The event, which has celebrated music and dancing since 1992, asks children to create a story on stage using creative movement and acting. Themes explored included bullying, health, history, culture, reconciliation and the environment.
