THE $16 million redevelopment of Club Central Menai has received a final stamp of approval, resulting in a 150-seat restaurant and a 79-place childcare centre to be built.
Sutherland Shire Council approved the changes at a meeting on Tuesday September 23 meeting, rejecting Shire Watch Independents councillor Peter Towell's call for a 3D model to be presented to the council.
The plan includes a separate children's play area for 150 youngsters and a three-level basement car park for 90 cars.
The approval follows the preparation of a traffic and design report.
The planned changes to the club include basement and podium car parking, a laser tag centre, new first-floor children's play area and second-floor childcare centre.
A report on the Allison Crescent property showed that although there had been greater patronage and parking demands during the week, the existing car park had enough capacity to accommodate "the occasional peak demands".
The approval is subject to a number of conditions:
CHANGES
The approval conditions include:
Exit zebra crossing and associated car park to be removed, with car park island converted to parking bay.
Two uniformed security guards to be employed for first 100 patrons and one extra guard for every extra 100 patrons from 8pm Thursday-Sunday until 30 minutes after trading.
Additionally, when operating after midnight, two guards continually patrol premises so patrons do not cause a nuisance.
CCTV to monitor all entrances/exits.
25 trees that will be removed will be replaced with 100 trees.
90 extra car parking spaces, bringing the total number to 344.
