ASH Grunwald is a man who needs little amplification. The blues musician is back on the stomp box, taking his one-man show to Miranda Hotel tomorrow night.
"I'm representing my career in one hit and it's the sort of set-up I had maybe six or seven years ago — playing solo and trying to make a big, one-man sound," Grunwald said.
"In the past, I have messed around with hip-hop beats and used that in the live show; I've played with bands and have experimented a lot with my sound throughout my career, and it's good to get back to my first love — the one-man band."
Fresh off the back of his first US tour, Grunwald has come back full circle to the stomping solo blues that made him famous as a young, authentic blues musician 10 years ago.
Recently he took to the highways of America with good friend Xavier Rudd, and his month-long tour was met with positive reviews and a signing to a large US based booking agency.
"I've done 10 albums so there is a lot of material there but I'll also chuck in a few new ones," he said.
The Kava Kings will perform too. Doors open at 8pm; tickets: oztix.com.au or ashgrunwald.com.au
