Re "War on cane toads" (Leader, October 9).
This problem is not just a problem for the shire. It is a problem facing a huge part of Australia and the problem is increasing daily.
Earlier this year we went on holidays to the Kimberley in WA.
I was alerted to the east coast-to-west coast spread of the cane toad and the damage caused to native wildlife.
In some areas native species populations have been decimated (e.g. northern quolls and monitor lizards in Darwin).
A fellow passenger Leo Maher and I decided to start a campaign to find a way to eradicate cane toads from Australia.
Leo has met with the federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt. The minister has said cane toads are a priority. All concerned Australians need to contact Greg Hunt to urge him to allocate funds and act.
