The 2014 graduating fashion design students from St George College — School of Fashion had a huge opportunity on Friday October 17 to make their mark in the industry.
The college was able to secure partnerships with David Jones (Elizabeth Street store), Vogue Australia and Woolmark.
The advanced diploma of fashion design and the diploma of applied fashion design and technology classes combined to have their signature and capsule ranges marked by David Jones and Vogue Australia representatives.
On the judging panel were some of the most influential figures in fashion representing David Jones womenswear, merchandising and senior designers.
St George College marketing teacher Fiona Lloyd said the collaboration was an amazing opportunity for students.
‘‘No other college has done this, so to approach a big retailer and have this partnership really offers emerging designers the chance to be support by the industry,’’ she said.
‘‘David Jones has a lot of pull and our students understand the target market - they nailed it.’’
She said the creations were stunning.
‘‘They’re creative and innovative but also commercial," she said.
‘‘Students shined.’’
Students will have their fashion exhibition at the city store from November 26 to December 1.
