THE Leader Sportstar Awards are attracting a host of quality nominations.
The latest round of nominees include, cyclist Ashlee Ankudinoff, of Menai, and bodyboarder Andrew Lester, of Cronulla, in the senior category.
Ankudinoff, 24, recently won gold for Australian in the women's 10 kilometre scratch race at the Oceania Track titles in Adelaide.
Lester, 34, won the 2014 Shark Island Challenge on Thursday — one of the sport's most prestigious including international entrants.
He defeated a top-class field to win the annual event.
Taren Point Bowling Club's Katrina Wright, is in the senior category judging after winning the Australian Champion of Champions women's singles title.
In the junior category, swimmer Kai Taylor, 7, of Sylvania, has pressed his claims with a series of top efforts in the pool.
Kai won several gold medals at the NSW Primary School Sports Association events including wins in freestyle races and breaking a Sutherland zone 50-metre freestyle record for his age group.
Also in the junior category, Emily Schneider, 12, of Bundeena, has shown top performances in athletics, winning the 13 years NSW Little Athletics three-kilometre event.
In the junior team category, Cronulla Oztag team won the Australian title on the weekend at Coffs Harbour. The team has dominated at state and national events over the past four years.
Also in the junior team category, Connells Point Rovers under-12s boys won the Football NSW Champion of Champions, with a 2-0 victory over Balmain DFC. They represented St George Football Association.
In the senior team category, Como West Jannali won the Football NSW Champion of Champions all-age women's title on Sunday.
Como West Jannali defeated Budgewoi, 2-1.
Loftus Waratahs over 30 women's team thrashed Harbord Seasiders United, 6-0 in their Football NSW Champion of Champions grand final. Connells Points Rovers FC are in the mix for the local sports club category. Their under-12 boys and under-17s boys teams won Football NSW Champion of Champions titles on Sunday.
