Parts of Lake Karrinyup Country Club, the host for this week's Perth International Golf Tournament, looked more like a Japanese ski slope on the weekend than the state's best golf course.
Heavy rain and hail hit Perth's northern suburbs on Saturday and the amount of ice that landed on Lake Karrinyup is believed to have been around 25 millimetres thick in places.
But course superintendent Trevor Strachan said there was no damage done to the course.
While there were extra man hours needed to clean up debris that fell on the course during the storm, he expects to get the thumbs-up from the players when they walk the fairways and greens on Tuesday.
World number 23 Victor Dubuisson, number 24 Charl Schwartzel and Jason Dufner (ranked number 31 in the world) will lead a strong field chasing $1.75 million in prize money in Australia's richest tour event, starting on Thursday.
Favourite Australians Geoff Ogilvy and Brett Rumford, plus defending champion Jin Jeong will also be in the field.
Strachan said he expected the course to be as challenging and the greens to be as fast as he had originally planned for.
"I wasn't there, but photos showed it was completely covered with hail - it looked like snow," he said.
"I've never seen it like that, but there was no damage; everything is pretty good.
"There was a lot of leaf matter around the course, that blew into bunkers [and] needed to be cleaned up. But the irrigation normally gets turned off aboout now. I would normally try to dry them out now."
Strachan said the only potential change to his planned preparation for the event was a chance the greens may need to be mowed again.
But he said he expected the greens to still rate at "12-feet" in pace, the same as last year.
"Tuesday is the day that I get my critique from the player; the dress rehearsal and it's [the weather] is looking good for the rest of the week at the moment," he said.
