NORTH Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club Nippers will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Saturday.
The club has a rich history of families and several generations being involved during the half of century.
It has had state, national and international champs in many surf life saving disciplines.
Two of the families that have been significant contributors in North Cronulla's history are Fleming and Bofinger.
Fleming clan members John Fleming, 69, Brooke Fleming, 41, Will Fleming, 14, Chae Fleming, 11, and Bella Fleming, 8, will be at the celebrations.
The Bofinger clan of Bill Bofinger, 76, Michael Bofinger, 48, Jed Bofinger, 18, Dane Bofinger, 16, and Abbey Bofinger, 14, will be there too.
John Fleming joined North Cronulla in 1961, he was part of the five man R & R team gold medal champions at the Australian titles, in 1969, in Tasmania.
He met Rae Bouffler, his future wife, at the club and four kids joined nippers.
Brooke Fleming continued the family tradition with his three children all joining.
Bill Bofinger joined North Cronulla in 1953 as a junior and was an top athlete in many disciplines. He said receiving club life membership was his greatest honour.
Boffinger's three sons became North Cronulla members. His son Michael is the club's boat captain and his three children are nippers.
The celebrations start at noon and will include nipper demonstrations. Shire band Chunk will play at 9pm.
