WHEN the school year ends, one tight-knit school community will thank and celebrate the long career of one of its favourite teachers.
Lynne Jackson has been teaching at St Finbar’s Catholic Primary School Sans Souci, for 35 years and the staff, students and parents wanted to acknowledge her dedication.
“She’s an excellent teacher,” said Mrs Linda Safi. “My son Jackson had her in Year 3 and again this year. She’s always been very understanding and is passionate about getting to know each child.”
Mrs Jackson, remembers starting at the school in 1979 and cherishes the friendships that she has formed.
"I have taught about 30 families who have passed through the school over three generations," she said.
"Seeing children of parents I taught is pretty special."
Each year Mrs Jackson keeps in touch with her former students and sends them good wishes before the HSC.
.She also says that one of her proudest moments was organizing a fundraiser to support the Nicole Fitzsimons Foundation. Nicole was taught by Mrs Jackson and was a former school captain of St Finbar's. She passed away in a tragic motorbike accident in Thailand in 2012. St Finbar's will continue to honour her legacy through the Foundation.
