A man has been injured after a bus tyre exploded, sending it flying into the glass window of a Rockdale business on Wednesday.
The bus was travelling along Tramway Arcade when a rear tyre exploded.
It hit the window of the newly-opened Nest Deli, shattering the glass and injuring the man, 31, who was walking past.
He was taken to St George Hospital but was discharged overnight.
Swallow Coffee Traders and Nest Deli owner Peter Bosevski said they were cleaning up after a long day when they heard a loud bang at 5pm.
‘‘We heard a loud explosion and when we looked outside we could see our front window shattered,’’ he said.
‘‘Glass was inside and outside and there was a man who was injured and bleeding.’’
It came just days after the the cafe expanded into the building next door to open the Nest Deli.
‘‘Nothing’s going to keep us down,’’ he said.
‘‘It could be a good sign — a blessing.’’
He said that there was little or no street signs to promote the 10km/h speed limit and the street was confusing for drivers.
‘‘We have a lot of foot traffic here and with heavy traffic it can get really dangerous,’’ he said.
‘‘In peak hours you can get a lot of buses speeding through here.
‘‘Hopefully, now something has happened, something might be done.’’
Do you think traffic conditions in Tramway Arcade need to change?
