THE Cancer Council is holding an online seminar about breast and gynaecological cancers for St George and Sutherland Shire residents on Thursday, 7pm-8pm.
During Unite in Pink, Westmead Hospital clinical oncology social worker Kim Hobbs will talk about the unexpected challenges that come with cancer. Three cancer survivors will share their recovery experiences.
Cancer Council regional manager Lauren McAlister said the organisation recognises a cancer diagnosis can raise many questions about the unexpected practical, physical and psychological challenges for the patient, their family and their friends.
"Many people who reach out to us for advice tell us that they wish they had known about all those little things that often don't come up in medical consultations," Ms McAlister said.
The online seminar is free, but people must register.
On average, each day in Australia about 50 women are diagnosed with breast or a gynaecological cancer.
