It is interesting that trade unions will be in force on October 28 at the Tradies Club to support no fee increases or TAFE cuts (Leader, October 23).
One way the trade unions could give support to TAFE is to immediately close all their registered training organisations and ask employer organisations to do likewise, thus reducing competition for state and federal TAFE education (training) dollars.
What we need from the represented unions is that they lead by example and state they are closing their RTOs and request other unions to do likewise.
The more non-TAFE training organisations the less each gets for education.
Also the government needs to realise that TAFE is technical and further education.
This organisation is an education body to teach principles behind skills the students will attain that are transferable and adaptable as technology changes.
