We are still waiting for the much-promised swell that was predicted for today. Some surfers paddled out in the dark only to find it was much smaller than yesterday and weak as the proverbial dishwater!
There is a south swell running around the 2ft mark but everyone seems to think there is still something more to come. It will be pretty much wasted on the Cronulla sandbanks though because they are appalling, and that's being nice.
There is a little bit of hope here, if a couple of rips form, but the swell is due to die down after today's peak and dribble into the weekend.A south pulse due on Sunday would be good for the Tradies Surfmasters being held all weekend.
I took today's pics at the Alley and up at Wanda where it was a bit bigger but not much better-I also threw in a couple of pics from Henderson reef yesterday when it showed a bit of promise.

To close the day, the roster of competitors narrowed for the first time, after the first athletes were sent home during Men’s Repechage Round 1. The standout of this elimination round was Australia´s Otis Carey, who posted a total heat score of 12.5, defeating Costa Rica’s Maykol Torres (9.84) and Scotland’s Iain Masson (3.73), who was eliminated from the event. Unfortunately for the Aussie, he suffered an injury towards the end of the heat, and will be sidelined for the remainder of the event.(double bummer)
