THE awards just keep on coming for Magda Sanchez, of Chiquitos Family Day Care, Cronulla.
Ms Sanchez has been named the best home-based educator in Australia at the 2014 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards.
The mother-of-two, 42, provides childcare from her house and is a registered day care provider with Sutherland Shire Council, which offers support through its children's services department.
Family day care services, also known as home-based care, offer education and care in the private homes of registered carers.
Mrs Sanchez is from a family of five children and always wanted to work with kids.
"I worked in medical centres, preschools, but in family daycare was where I found my feet," she said.
Mrs Sanchez grew up in Peru and did charity work in early childhood education in disadvantaged communities in the Andes region.
She incorporates Spanish, yoga and music into the curriculum she offers.
More than 25,000 early childhood educators were considered for the national awards run by Family Day Care Australia.
Its chief executive Carla Northam said Ms Sanchez was "an inspiration to the family care sector and it is clear that the children in her care couldn't be in better hands".
Mrs Sanchez cares for up to seven children a day, including three children over the age of five who require before or after school and vacation care.
