JUBILEE Oval, Kogarah will be green as a billiards table in a matter of weeks.
That is the verdict from curator Stu Collins who has been the turf man at the famous George ground for the past 16 years.
"We have just undergone the annual renovation and restoration of the ground," he said.
"The restoration work takes between four to six weeks.
Last Sunday's planned Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers W-League game was moved from Jubilee Oval because it was unsuitable for football to be played.
Collins said that was because ground restoration had been brought forward by a few weeks.
But storms spoiled the plans.
"We normally do the restoration work in early November," Collins said.
"The unseasonably warm weather brought it forward then we got the heavy rain and storms a few weeks ago."
Collins said restoring the surface involved the grass being shaved down and new topsoil laid.
He said the soil was then aerated and the new grass began to grow and bind together.
Jubilee Oval will be one of the official training centres — from January 6 — for the 2015 Asian Football Cup.
Ryan Healy from Football Federation Australia said the organisation was unsure which teams would train at the ground.
A series of knockout matches in the Asian Cup in Sydney will include international teams such as Australia, Uzbekistan, North Korea, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Iran.
