Electric barbecues may be used provided certain conditions are met.
FRIDAY STORY:
Firefighters will do hazard reduction burning at Como on Sunday, November 2, ahead of the summer bushfire season.
Fire and Rescue NSW director of metropolitan operations, Acting Assistant Commissioner Gerry Byrne said fire authorities were taking advantage of the weather conditions to carry out the burn in Woronora Crescent.
‘‘FRNSW and the NSW RFS are using combined resources and are working together to ensure this hazard reduction burn is completed in a fast, safe and efficient manner,’’ he said.
“This hazard reduction is a priority for the state’s authorities due to the high fuel load in the area making it a bushfire risk.’’
Sunday’s hazard reduction burn will cover eight hectares and involve more than 60 firefighters, including 12 FRNSW fire trucks, four NSW RFS fire trucks and an RFS fire boat.
The burn is expected to begin at 10am and last around eight hours.
Residents in the area are advised to keep doors and windows closed, keep outdoor furniture under cover and to take pets inside or into a protected area.
