The Hungry Mum - Cafe tops with foodies of all ages

FOODIES Deli Cafe, at Sandringham, is the type of cafe you wished was a quick stroll from your place.

The decor, food and menu scream inner city but the availability of parking, spacious surrounds and proximity to the beach is pure St George.

Co-owner Petrit Gratsis has a background in hospitality and interior design, which is evident from his sincere welcome and the eye-caching design. Along with Jansci and Matt Oxenham, he set out to create a cafe that offers a selection of modern classics in chic surroundings.

Healthy eaters can choose bircher muesli for breakfast while a display of naughty but nice pastries could tempt even the most adamant dieter.

The lunch menu includes home-made arancini, vegie frittata and colourful salads, as well as favourites like burgers and salt and pepper calamari.

On the day the Hungry Mum visited, groups of diners were enjoying all-day breakfasts while others sipped coffees or popped in to collect takeaways.

Mr Gratsis said the cafe was renowned as being very family friendly, with $2 from every kid’s meal donated to Sydney Children’s Hospital.

Lovers of fine bread can order their loaves of Brasserie Bread online and collect them from the cafe or just pop in to choose from the standard selection.

On Friday nights, the cafe transforms from bare tables into a candle-lit, tableclothed establishment with a new menu.

The cafe also sells a selection of items used in meals, such as top shelf olive oils, relishes and pastas.
