This state government has chosen to erode TAFE further, with funding cuts and grossly excessive fees.
TAFE fees are going through the roof. Why? Answer: course fees were increased to primarily satisfy private training companies to compete for TAFE courses and taxpayer funding dollars.
This has been done by stealth, with the introduction of a brand new system called "Smart and Skilled".
Under this new system a what is now a three-year trade course will be slashed to an incompetent level, producing half tradesmen.
Last week large numbers of loyal, dedicated TAFE teachers throughout the state have been sacked or have to reapply for their positions to reduce the cost of this new system.
I don't know who named this new system; it should be called Dumb and Unskilled.
Residents, what are you going to do?
This means we could lose St George, Loftus and Gymea TAFE colleges.
