Staff stop robbery at jewellery shop

A shopkeeper and his sons were able to foil a robbery at a jewellery shop in Brighton-le-Sands yesterday.

The men were in their store on Bay Street when another man smashed a display window with a hammer and wrench.

Police allege the man, 31, tried to take to steal goods from the shop before staff confronted him.

St George Police arrested a man at the scene and charged him with aggravated robbery, aggravated theft, and stealing a car.

He was due to appear at Sutherland Local Court today.
