ROCKDALE Council will seek state government funding to counter beach erosion caused by gale-force winds and wild seas early this month.
The council also has to meet the cost of repairing nets on swimming baths along Lady Robinsons beach.
Monterey baths has been closed until repairs are carried out.
The damage occurred on June 5 when the area was hit by 100km/h winds, which whipped up huge seas.
A council spokesman said the weather conditions, combined with record high tides and massive swells, had caused severe erosion of the shoreline, which includes eight kilometres of beachfront.
"Repairs to the netting, which was destroyed in the recent storms, has been estimated to cost $25,000," he said.
"The restoration and protection of dune areas at Sandringham are under investigation.
