The Hungry Mum - Right clothing comes out of the closet

St George mum-of-four, Megan King, was so fed with up with seeing raunchy clothes for her daughters that she began an online store,

Juliet’s Closet.

The site stocks feminine, pretty, stylish clothes that can be summed up by the term ‘‘modern classics’’. Dresses, skirts, shirts and shoes with not a skintight crop-top to

be seen.

The business, five years in the making, had its genesis when her eldest daughter Emily was shopping for clothes.

‘‘It is a universal problem: tasteful clothing for girls,’’ Mrs King said.

‘‘These girls aspire to inappropriate role models, and designers may call it ‘high trend’, but it is not appropriate.

‘‘I’ve had overwhelming feedback and there is a huge demand from mums who are stylish and want their girls to look respectful.’’

Now 12, Emily is the website’s de facto business partner and has a say in what is stocked. The year 7 student also writes a regular blog for Juliet’s Closet.

Making the leap from stay-at-home mum to entrepreneur has helped Mrs King’s children see that dreams can come true and you can reach your goals.

Other gifts from the online store include stationery, arts and crafts activities and

wall decals.
