THERE will be more than 70,000 books for sale at the Lifeline Sutherland Book Fair from today until Sunday at Sutherland Entertainment Centre.
Among the treasures is an 1877 collection of writings by Sir Walter Scott, who was born in Scotland in 1771 and was considered the inventor and master of the historical novel.
Other rare finds include an encyclopaedia published in 1908 and a 1929 leather-bound album of photos taken to promote NSW as a tourist destination.
The fair raises funds for Wesley Mission Lifeline Sydney and Sutherland, which helps thousands of people in crisis each year.
More than $60,000 was raised last year. The event is overseen by Lifeline volunteers and staff from Tradies.
The fair coincides with the Coffee@Peace Festival held on Sunday at nearby Peace Park.
