SANS Souci Pharmacy on Rocky Point Road has a Darrell Lea store within its shop where the sweets are a consistent seller, said pharmacy assistant Tamara Dwyer-Mills.
‘‘We heard about it [the voluntary administration] on the news and it is really sad,’’ Miss Dwyer-Mills said.
‘‘It is going to be devastating, as it is an institution and it is difficult to know how it will affect us.
‘‘It wouldn’t make us a huge amount of money but we keep it because people want it.
‘‘It will be a shame, as they said they are also looking for overseas buyers — no one will buy liquorice other than Darrell Lea. If it is business as usual we need to know.’’
Miss Dwyer-Mills said a recent change in design and packaging of some products, and price increases, had alienated some customers. ‘‘Prices have gone up a few times over the past few years,’’ she said.
