Marine rescuers are keeping a close eye on a young Sub-Antarctic fur seal found at north Cronulla beach this morning.
A representative of the Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans in Australia has set up camp near the seal to ensure it was not disturbed as it rested.
A National Parks and Wildlife spokeswoman said it was not unusual to see sub-Antarctic fur seals at this time of year, especially after big seas.
‘‘It will be most likely resting before taking to the water again,’’ the spokeswoman said.
