Students engineer impressive win

STUDENTS from St Patrick's College, Sutherland, won the 2012 National Aurecon Bridge Building Competition. Held at the Art Gallery of NSW, the competition aimed to encourage teenagers to consider careers in engineering.

The team from St Pat's — Dylan Butler, Daniel Gouvela and Jack Lang — built a bridge that held a record weight of 202 kilograms.

They used wood, string and cardboard to create the project.

The boys beat all other competing schools from Australia and New Zealand.
