SWIMMER Nicole Miro is one of the top contenders in the athlete with a disability category in the Leader Sportstar Awards.
Nicole, 14, who is a Menai Swim Academy member, recently won six gold medals, two silver and one bronze at the 2014 school nationals.
The teenager was third in the Commonwealth Games trials at Brisbane.
Nicole has set many national age records.
Nominees in the senior category include Sutherland Cricket Club batsman Jamie Brown, who scored his maiden century on Saturday against Sydney at Glenn McGrath Oval.
The left-hander slammed an unbeaten 122, which brought great delight to the 19-year-old.
In the junior category, Grace Elliott, 9, of Peakhurst Heights has won many gold medals in surf lifseaving and nippers events. She is a member of the Elouera club.
In the masters category, Anne Owen of Oatley is right in contention after setting a new Australian record in the 55-59 years female category at the Narrabeen All-Nighter 12-hour road run.
In the local sports club category, Southern Power Women's AFL team are a force as they won the Sydney AFL second division competition for the first time.
