Racing NSW and Cronulla Sharks want to recruit Lyall Gorman to senior administrative posts.
Gorman is the former boss of the A-League competition and worked in prominent roles with Football Federation Australia.
Gorman established the FFA’s Western Sydney Wanderers A-League team in April 2012 and became its executive chairman.
The FFA has since sold the Wanderers to other interests.
Gorman previously held the post as chairman of A-League club Central Coast Mariners.
Racing NSW chairman John Messara is keen to get Gorman working for the thoroughbred racing industry’s governing body.
The Sharks have restructured their administrative organisation after chief executive Steve Noyce was made redundant.
The next appointment will be a group chief executive responsible for the football and leagues clubs operations and their commercial and residential developments.
Gorman has has discussions with the Sharks but no decision has been made.
The Leader has learned that Gorman had a guided tour this week of the Sharks premises and met with senior management.
With Noyce’s departure, Cronulla Leagues Club chief executive Marcelo Veloz is interim football club boss.
