THE annual Garie Dash assembled the top surfboat crews and entrants on Sunday at Hordens Beach, Bundeena.
Garie Surf Life Saving Club’s 17th annual event brought together Cronulla, North Cronulla, Elouera, Wanda, Bondi, Coogee, Wonoona, North Wollongong, Corrimal, Gerringong and Kiama.
Garie Beach Surf Life Saving Club deputy president Pat Dillon said the carnival was started originally to raise the club’s profile.
‘‘We have carnival officials from other bigger clubs assisting us and the event attracts a diverse range of crews from far and wide,’’ she said.
‘‘We also run our normal Sunday morning Nippers’ competition at Horderns Beach on Dash day, which showcases the Nippers for us.
‘‘We are proud we run the junior program in conjunction with Burning Palms juniors, which helps retain younger members.’’
