The state government is keen for councils to amalgamate.
Hurstville Council has deferred the matter twice to councillor workshops, the first at home at Hurstville, the second in the Hunter Valley.
Then when another report on amalgamations comes to the council they decide to discuss the matter behind closed doors.
Now they have finally decided to educate the public "about the issues and effects of a possible amalgamation" — but only after urgently seeking feedback from the public first.
Oh, the irony.
