Re the Leader's front page report on late night and early morning noise at Cronulla RSL from guests and security staff leaving the club.
Sutherland Shire Council made certain conditions about noise when giving permission for the first lot of building extensions.
Nearby residents were not to be affected. The same conditions applied to the recent $6 million extension.
Nothing is going to change, it will be the same noise until the last patrons leave the area. That's always much later than 3am. After that the staff have their traditional free drink, so it's closer to 4am when things quieten down.
By then it's nearly time for adjoining owners to start waking up so they can go to work.
There was an interesting article in a Sunday newspaper about a change of management approach at the Mean Fiddler, a Rouse Hill hotel that had gained notoriety.
The article is recommended reading for Cronulla RSL and its directors, about a win-win for the management and neighbours, with cheaper costs.
At least give it a go. What can the club lose?
