SPRINTER Chevy Stewart of Kurnell equalled the fastest time for 100 metres by a nine-year-old in NSW this year.
Chevy, a Kurnell Public School pupil, ran 13.58 seconds in the final of the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association 100-metres final at Olympic Park last month.
It was a photo finish to split the difference, with Chevy missing out on top honours by just a whisker.
Though first place went to Oliver Freeman from Kentucky in Uralla Shire, both boys were still awarded the same time for the race.
Chevy who plays Oztag for Cronulla and league for Kurnell Stingrays, said he enjoyed his sprinting and helped him to compete in other sports.
