Environmental science university student Alice Verrall is having a busy time of it — riding her recumbent trike around parts of Australia.
Ms Verrall, 24, who hails from an area 32 kilometres outside Melbourne, is doing a road trip to raise money for Assistance Dogs Australia.
As part of the ride she went through Engadine recently where she made the acquaintance of Assistance Dogs ambassador Taylor.
"I'm doing it to thank Assistance Dogs for giving me Kooper [her own assistance dog]."
Although Ms Verrall has visited some of the places on this trip's itinerary, there are others that are new to her.
"Basically, I am by myself with my carer Danielle," she said.
She had done only short bike rides before the road trip.
Ms Verrall has cerebral palsy.
"I want to show people that anyone, especially disabled people, can do whatever they set their mind to," she said.
"We are riding around national parks and rail trails."
Ms Verrall intends visiting Brisbane next.
She is doing her ride during her present university holidays and intends resuming the ride next July and the 2015-16 summer.
Ms Verrall is studying for a bachelor of science (wildlife and conservation biology) degree at Latrobe University, Bundoora.
