The proposed fuel tax increase is minuscule compared with the 15¢ to 20¢ jump in prices seen at the pumps on the weekly cycle.
Perhaps the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission should re-release — if they ever were released — its findings about the reasons behind the fuel companies' manipulations.
In New Zealand, the prices seem stable and are more consistent across the country.
Is this because of the lack of independents that cause the big companies here to drop their prices to unrealistic levels or is it the other way round?
That is, too high in the first place.
