The prettiness of the decor is matched by the mouth-watering aromas emerging from the oven of the tea and cake shop.
Owners Ross and Elizabeth Craig have created a sanctuary of girliness at Woolooware with their old-fashioned shop.
From the vintage soundtrack to the mismatched china and adorable sugar cubes, it is clear they have put thought and effort into the ambience.
And that’s before you’ve had a chance to drool at the incredible treats on display: cupcake flavours including coconut and marshmallow, salted caramel fudge and golden gaytime entice you in.
Various flavours of meringues beckon while individual tarts look just the ticket for a well-earned treat.
These are the perfect accompaniments to the many and varied styles of tea on offer: from your Earl Grey to the more exotic black tea with quince, and the fun-sounding strawberries and cream, Paper and Poppies specialises in teas.
Forty-plus styles are available, either to have in-store or to take home.
High tea is served on the second Saturday of each month ($40 a person and bookings are essential).
The store hires all the pretty accessories you need for your next tea party at home, such as cake stands and glass drinks dispensers.
