WITH this summer expected to record above-average temperatures, the RSPCA is reminding residents to think of their animals.
Having an evacuation plan that includes pets is vital in summer, when bushfires can force residents from their homes in a matter of minutes.
An RSPCA spokesman advised having pets wear their collars and current ID tags with current contact information at all times, and ensuring there is a secondary contact number on the ID tag, as a home phone won't be answered if there is an evacuation.
Have an emergency pet supply kit including food and water as well as bowls, medication, blankets and towels.
Should you become separated from your pet during an evacuation, call the RSPCA on 9770 7555.
