Station upgrade thanks
I wish to applaud NSW Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian on her announcement regarding the proposed major upgrade and improvement works at Narwee railway station (Leader, November 20).
These upgrades and improvements are long overdue. I understand these works will include a family-accessible toilet, ramps, lift access, improved customer information and direction signs, and upgrades to lighting and security camera systems.
The proposed lift is most welcome as the 32 steps are very difficult to negotiate for the many frail, elderly people and people with difficulties living in the area who catch the train.
The NSW government is to be congratulated for the numerous NSW transport services and improvements, particularly the delivery of extra weekly public transport services, airconditioning to all trains and Opal electronic ticketing.
