■ The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore. This classic poem has been delighting children since it was published in 1823.
■ A Guinea Pig Nativity is the classic Christmas story with guinea pigs photographed in the starring roles.
■ A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens was published in 1843 tells the story of Victorian-era miser Ebenezer Scrooge who takes a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions.
■ How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr Seuss was published in 1957 and criticises the commercialisation of Christmas, with the grumpy Grinch as the unlikely hero.
■ Everything I Need to Know about Christmas I Learned from a Little Golden Book by Diane Muldrow has wise and witty advice for grown-ups about getting through the hectic holiday season from Little Golden Books characters including the Pokey Little Puppy and The Gingerbread Man.
