Sydney grade cricket matches have been cancelled on Saturday as a mark of respect to the late Phillip Hughes and his family.
Batsman Hughes, 25, died on Thursday, after sustaining severe head injuries from a bouncer delivery in Tuesday’s Sheffield Shield match between NSW and South Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
He collapsed at the wicket and never regained consciousness.
Hughes was taken by ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital and placed in an induced coma before surgery.
Doctors said Hughes died peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
St George and Sutherland Cricket Clubs, like the sporting community, have expressed their sympathies to the Hughes family.
