AS a NSW firefighter, Jeff Lay is more used to putting out a fire than posing for a camera.
But the Cronulla resident, 50, stripped down for the 2015 Firefighters Calendar NSW/VIC.
Despite this being the third year he took part, he said he still didn't feel completely comfortable in front of the lens.
"The first year I was really nervous, it doesn't feel very comfortable. It's an interesting experience," he said."But people have been really sweet. They know it's not an ego thing; it's about supporting the charity."
He said keeping on top of his diet was crucial ahead of the photo shoot at a Penrith property.
"Diet is a big part of it, maybe 70 per cent," he said. "My training is pretty regimented and my lifestyle is pretty active."
All funds raised from the sale of the calendar will go towards supporting the burns unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
It's a cause close to his heart.
"Every year we tour the burns unit and we can see where the money goes," he said. "You can see the new equipment and you know how beneficial it is."
Mr Lay will sell calendars at Cronulla Plaza on December 6 and 20, Sutherland Hospital on December 9 and Menai Marketplace on December 15 and 16. Online sales: firefighterscalendar.com.au/calendars/2015-firefighters-calendar-nsw-vic
