ST George and Sutherland Cricket Clubs grade teams did not play on the weekend as their matches were cancelled in the wake of the death of Philip Hughes.
But Sutherland's Poidevin-Gray under-21s team played against Mosman on Sunday at Glenn McGrath Oval.
Both teams lined up before play and observed 63 seconds silence in respect to Phillip Hughes who was hit by a bouncer playing for South Australia against NSW last Tuesday at the SCG.
Hughes never regained consciousness from the blow and died at 25 on November 27; he was 63 not out.
"The week had obviously been a very traumatic one for all involved in cricket and the wider sports community," Sutherland club historian Tom Iceton said.
"Phillip Hughes was playing for South Australia against NSW, in all likelihood on his way to his 27th first class century and a spot in the Test team as a replacement for the injured skipper Michael Clarke.
"Now, he will forever be not out on 63. Australia has had 439 Test cricketers, only Archie Jackson, who died in 1933 of tuberculosis at 23 years, 164 days, passed away at a younger age."
Iceton delivered a tribute before the 63 seconds of silence.
The Sutherland and Mosman under-21 teams played a one-dayer with Sutherland, making 5-276.
Jamie Brown top-scored with 73, Jack Leaning 58, Lachlan Maddinson 32 not out, Adam Whatley 32, Ben Dwarshuis 31, and Jonathan Rose was 26 not out, defeated Mosman for 144. Ben Dwarshuis took 3-24 and Shayne Smith, took 2-10.
"Sutherland have won three out of three matches, with two bonus points, and are on top of the table," Iceton said.
