TWO southern Sydney nursing homes named in a television news report on December 1 for failing to properly care for residents have addressed the non-compliances for which they were issued orders last year.
The story stated that 30 nursing homes in NSW had been issued with non-compliance orders between November 1, 2012, and November 1, 2014, but failed to mention that only one of those homes was yet to address the non-compliance.
A Blakehurst nursing home was issued with a non-compliance order in June last year for not adequately addressing standards set out in the Quality of Care Principles Act 1997.
A Miranda nursing home was issued with a non-compliance for the same reason in June last year.
Both have addressed the non-compliance but will continue to have their performance monitored by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency including through unannounced visits.
The Miranda nursing home is due for re-accreditation on March 11 next year and the Blakehurst nursing home is due for re-accreditation on May 3, 2016.
