SUTHERLAND Shire mates Trevor Farrell and Tony Everett are paddling 2000 kilometres of the Murray River in April 2015 to raise money for Father Chris Riley's Youth Off The Streets group.
The trip from Yarrawonga in northern Victoria to the mouth of the river at Goolwa in South Australia will take six weeks and it is hoped will raise $60,000.
The men both volunteer for Youth Off The Streets, a non-denominational organisation that provides care and support to people 12-21 years who are facing challenges of homelessness, drug and alcohol dependency, exclusion from school, neglect and abuse.
The organisation runs 25 services including crisis accommodation and long-term residential care, counselling, secondary education and rehabilitation, and also runs outreach programs outside of Sydney.
The Sutherland Shire business owners each year run three-day canoeing and camping trips on the Shoalhaven River for children from the organisation.
Their recent trivia night at Tradies Gymea raised $28,000.
