Street safety concern
I would like know how Rockdale Council justifies spending $40 million for a library and a swimming pool using ratepayers' money but is unable to enforce a control on heavy trucks coming through the streets at Bardwell Park and Bexley North.
According to a council officer, the council doesn't have the resources for a ranger to implement the rules — what a farce.
According to police and the Roads and Maritime Services, safety and traffic on our streets are a council responsibility.
Ratepayers are still waiting for a traffic calming solution in Bardwell and Darley roads since 2013 and traffic lights at Bardwell shopping centre since 1990.
The council must prioritise those issues to provide a service to ratepayers and not the developer for their interest.
