Opal costly when stuck
On December 4 my train stopped in the CBD due to signal failure at Central during evening peak hour when thousands of commuters were going home.
I was at North Sydney train station at about 5.15pm, two trains heading towards the city were there full of passengers, there were thousands of commuters waiting at the platform.
Many commuters ditched the train, heading to nearby bus stops.
I joined the queue catching a train to the city hoping the train in the city was working. My Opal tap-on at North Sydney train station was reversed.
Then I was charged on a bus trip from North Sydney to Wynyard at normal bus fare.
Then, I was charged a normal train fare from Wynnard to Kingsgrove.
The bus trip to the city was "extra" to the normal North Sydney to Kingsgrove train trip.
I am sure many other other commuters who sought alternative transport due to the train delays paid extra.
