MORTDALE fire station will open its doors on Thursday, December 18, in search of the next crop of recruits.
The station has several retained firefighter positions vacant and will hold an information session at the station from 4pm.
Mortdale fire captain Wayne Challinor said they were looking for people from all walks of life.
"Physical fitness is important but it's about being a team player who can devote time to the position," he said.
The working day of a firefighter is never the same.
In the past week, the Mortdale fire crew have been called to floodings, storm damage, car accidents, bushfires and smoke alarms.
There is no age limit and training is provided.
Mr Challinor said the information session would give people the chance to meet the crew and ask questions.
"We're looking for people from a range of backgrounds," he said.
