THE Georges River is looking cleaner because of the efforts of the Georges River Combined Councils Committee (GRCCC) Riverkeeper program.
The latest Riverkeeper program report card for 2013-14 showed workers spent 17,316 hours at 155 sites removing rubbish.
This year 70,276 kilograms of plastics, building waste, furniture, household waste and shopping trolleys were taken from the river, as were micropollutants like cigarette butts and polystyrene.
A GRCCC spokeswoman said residents could anonymously dob in a dumper to their local council if they saw suspicious activity.
Teams also did extensive bush regeneration work to remove weeds and invasive plants along the river foreshore.
