KOGARAH Council is preparing to welcome the Chinese Year of the Goat on Thursday, February 26, at Kogarah Town Square.
Mayor Michael Platt said Chinese New Year was among the most popular events held in the region and everyone was looking forward to a memorable celebration.
"The Chinese community is one of Australia's — and indeed Kogarah's — largest, and the council looks forward to celebrating with them to welcome in the Year of the Goat," he said.
The event will begin at 6.30pm with entertainment until 8.30pm.
Highlights will include performances by Ocean Dream Cultural Art Centre of Australia, the Australia International Youth Talent Competition, performances by local groups and lucky draw prizes.
The official opening ceremony at 6.30pm will be followed by the dragon and lion dance performed by Da Hung Kung Fu Club.
