'Fat' ambulance
Whilst embarrassing, it should come as no surprise that Engadine was chosen to be one of only two sites in Sydney to receive a new "fat" ambulance ("Ambulances modified for larger patients", Leader, October 14).
These ambulances are designed to accommodate patients over 160kg and up to 300kg.
To quote Health Minister Jillian Skinner, "Clearly there is a demand for these services . . ." To even the most casual observer, a walk down not just Engadine streets, but anywhere in the shire, would confirm the accuracy of Mrs Skinner's comments.
What a sad, sad reflection on the society that we have become.
